Skippers and Stowaways Day-Sail Weekend

Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May 2026

This is the third one following 2 years of fun weekends.

To All Skippers and Stowaways ................

This is a genuine opportunity for Volunteer Skippers to share their knowledge and boats with GCCC Stowaways for a day, and for our Stowaways to gain sailing time and experience in a club, sharing, and fun atmosphere. It also creates new networks for the rest of the sailing Season!

To date ..... a few Volunteer Skippers have offered boats for the weekend (thank you!) giving us in the order of  12 Stowaway places. Are there any more Skippers that would like to join in??

The broad outline plan for Saturday 9th May:

• Meet in Portsmouth area, at Gosport Marina office, at 09:00
• Go on board for a Safety briefing, prepare boat, plan & discuss the day ahead
• Sail to Osbourne or Stokes Bay (wind dependant) for lunch at anchor
• Sail back to Portsmouth Harbour
• Debrief, clean and put boat to bed
• Skippers and Stowaways visit local hostelry for beers and food

The Folly Inn

This is always a very popular rally and with affordable walk ashore berthing, good food and a pontoon party, one not to be missed!

We have 9 spaces reserved on the walk ashore Folly pontoon and 16 places for supper arranged on two tables of eight at the Folly Inn.

Can I please ask that you book early in order that I can provide both the Folly berthing team and the restaurant with final numbers.  There is no penalty should inclement weather intervene, so there is little reason to delay booking.

•  As well as registering for the rally in the customary manner, you MUST book with Bembridge Harbour as far in advance as possible - Bembridge have given us a closing date of 5th September!  When booking, use rally code GC926.  The price you pay will include any applicable discount for the Rally nights.

Information from Bembridge Harbour:

All rally members should book online, using the rally code. During the online booking process, rally members will be asked to select either the rally rafting area (on the outside of the main Duver pontoon for ease of access) or a finger pontoon. Please be aware that finger pontoons are available to all visitors and are therefore subject to availability - early booking is advisable.  Please be aware that Finger pontoons are only for boats up to 12.8m LOA and are available to all visitors and are therefore subject to availability - early booking is advisable.    

A Duver Marina plan is available on the harbour website.

The rally code covers only the dates of the booked rally.  Anyone  wanting to arrive earlier or stay longer is very welcome and can make an online booking on their customer account (the system will automatically adjust for any relevant rally discount).

Rally Discounts
With the exception of the peak period 4th July until 31st August inclusive,  weekend rallies receive a 5% discount (Friday, Saturday and Bank Holidays). Mid-week rallies (Sunday - Thursday) receive 10% on berthing fees and electricity - this Rally Discount is only available for the Rally Rafting Area, and NOT for finger berths (and is in addition to the online booking discount).
